Blog Redesign and Name Change!

Hello, everyone and welcome to my newly redesigned website/blog!    As I announced on the Two Crafty Mules Facebook page last month, this blog was redesigned in order to mirror the Wanda Maria Designs brand.  In addition, I wanted to make it more user-friendly and easier for readers to find tutorials, recipes, and the like on my page.  So - here we are!!!

Cat Russell of Studio Paisley Cat redesigned my blog.  If anyone is in need of a blog/website redesign, I highly recommend her.  I am technically challenged - I will be the first to admit it.  Cat held my hand during the redesign process and gave me guidance as it related to various aspects of posting pictures and information here.  She was really wonderful!  Cat can be contacted through these sites:  Facebook, Design Studio, and Blog.

By the way, I have officially deleted the Two Crafty Mules Facebook page.  Please follow me on Facebook at Wanda Maria Designs if you have not already done so.  I have a lot of new designs, recipes and tutorials to share with you!  Thanks for sticking it out with me.  I am most appreciative. :)

New Bronze Mixed Media Necklace Creations

I'm happy to tell you that after the whirlwind of the holiday season and everything which surrounds it, I am finally back to posting my new jewelry creations on EBay and Etsy.  The ones I am sharing here have the same basic format - bronze bezels, chain, crosses and crystals - but all feature different images based on some of the more popular saint requests I receive on a regular basis.  As always, no two designs are exactly alike.  The necklace featuring St. Therese of Lisieux - the Little Flower - was made with metal rose beads that I hand-tinted red to match the crystals.

Introducing Wanda Maria Designs and the San Gennaro Festival in NYC!!!

Life is quite interesting at times - and that is an understatement!

For several months, I have been planning to go to New York in September, 2014 in order to promote my jewelry business, and I ended up receiving the opportunity of a lifetime.   My business will be a sponsor and vendor of the Annual San Gennaro Festival in New York's Little Italy.  This is a big deal as the special sponsor/vendor status is granted to only 12 businesses each year.  The promoter informed me that they have not previously had any businesses which make handmade Catholic and faith-based jewelry participate in the event.   They felt I would be the perfect addition to the festival. Needless to say, they really bent over backwards in working with me to bring me on board.  I can't tell you how very excited I am about being able to participate in this event, which is expected to attract between 1.5 and 1.75 million visitors this year.  This is a huge networking opportunity for me.  I will meet hundreds of thousands of people; in addition, the promoter informed me that one of the large Italian Fashion Houses will be helping with the event.  The Fashion House works strictly with jewelry and clothing designers.  I am very excited about getting to meet them while I am there.  One never knows what could happen.... *fingers crossed*.

San Gennaro - patron saint of Naples, Italy and blood banks.

I have been thinking about rebranding my business name of "Two Crafty Mules" for awhile now.  It was a cute name when we started the business in 2000.  At the time, we were making everything from dolls to quilts to jewelry and other sorts of homey, crafty things.  As the business evolved, it essentially became a business that sells primarily mixed-media and faith-based jewelry designs.  Two Crafty Mules no longer encompasses the type of product designs I make and sell.  In order to better capture the spirit of my handmade jewelry, "Two Crafty Mules" is being rebranded as "Wanda Maria Designs".   The Etsy store name has been changed to accommodate the name change, and a new website is being developed.  The Facebook page - which is currently a work in progress - has been set up here.  This blog will remain as "Two Crafty Mules" and will continue to share craft projects, tutorials, recipes and the like, as will the Two Crafty Mules Facebook page.  The "Wanda Maria Designs" page will focus more on sharing new jewelry designs to accommodate those who are interested in just the fashion aspect of my business without all of the crafting.  Confusing?  I hope not.  My main goal is to keep my customers and blog followers from the past as I garner new ones through "Wanda Maria Designs".

Until the new website is set up, I will continue to share new jewelry designs on this blog.

I thank you for your past support, and I appreciate you sticking with me as I go through this exciting transition.

By the way - to help me launch "Wanda Maria Designs" on a nationwide level, I have started a project in Kickstarter.  Please feel free to stop by and check it out.  Any support you can offer will be much appreciated.  Those who support me there will have the opportunity of receiving FREE jewelry pieces from me, including, but not limited to lovely pieces like these:

I hope to "see" you there!

It's so hard to believe today is the last day of November.  It's been such a whirlwind of a year for me between beginning college this past spring (for the first time ever), remodeling my craft studio, working on orders for my jewelry customers and the like.

I have the best customers and blog/Facebook followers.  I really do.  I have met some of the nicest people through my jewelry projects and want to say "thanks" by having a giveaway - just in time for Christmas.

I will be giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to my Etsy shop, Two Crafty Mules.  The gift certificate may be used for any ready-made item in the shop.  It may not be used on custom orders.   You can enter the giveaway by leaving a comment on this blog post, and/or by leaving a comment on the Two Crafty Mules Facebook page under the giveaway post.  Leave one comment on each site, and you will have TWO chances to win!  The deadline to leave comments is Sunday, December 15 at 11:59 p.m.  One lucky winner will be selected on Monday, December 16.  Just in time to shop for Christmas!  WOOT!  Please spread the word - tell your friends, post the giveaway on Pinterest, etc.  An additional prize will be added if we reach comments from 200 people, with additional prizes added for each 100 comments thereafter!  How awesome is that?

So - what are you waiting for?  Let the commenting begin!  :)  Good luck, everyone!

P.S.  While we are talking about freebies - who doesn't love a freebie, especially at this time of year?  One of my Christmas art doll projects is currently featured in the Altered Arts Bonus Christmas 2013 project issue.  The magazine is available for purchase - and - for a limited time only - available for FREE digital download.  Be sure to check it out and get some free Christmas project inspiration while you are at it.

Virgin Mary Necklace, Earrings and Saints Charm Bracelets

I've been on another jewelry making roll (so what else is new, right?) and I want to share my latest designs with you:

Virgin Mary Necklace ( I love the retro avocado green colors in this.  Even the filigree pendant base I used is avocado green):

Filigree dangle earrings, featuring my favorite subject, the Virgin Mary (yes, I know, I am so predictable. I just can't help myself...):

Catholic saints loaded charm bracelet in shades of pastel pink and white:
And another view of the bracelet with the portrait charms all separated out:
This was a custom order for a lady with a very tiny wrist who wanted a simpler version of a Catholic saints charm bracelet.  She selected the saints for her bracelet, who are (from left to right): St. Fiacre, St. Barbara, St. Hildegard, St. Joan of Arc and St. Brigid of Sweden.  I've collected saints images since I was a little girl and literally have thousands of images in my collection, even the more obscure and hard-to-find saints:

And speaking of custom orders, one of my best selling items these days are my folk art wooden cross necklaces.  These have been selling like hotcakes the past few months and I've made them with just about every perceivable image.  As always, any jewelry items pictured here and/or custom jewelry requests can be ordered by contacting me through this blog or visiting my Etsy and EBay stores.
As always, thanks for letting me share my creations with you!

Halloween Mixed Media Block Doll Giveaway

I don't know about you, but I can't believe we are already into the month of October. I'm not complaining, though. I absolutely LOVE the fall season - it's my favorite time of year. The cool and comfortable weather plus the changing of the leaves....It doesn't get any better than this.

To celebrate the changing of the seasons, I'm giving away TWO mixed media block dolls to TWO lucky winners. I made both dolls out of vintage images, wood, paper, colored chalk and fabric. To win, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. Please make sure that I will be able to contact you if you win. Two winners will be selected on October 16 using a random number generator.

Best of luck to all!

Introducing my New Museum Line of Jewelry

I have been on a necklace making frenzy all weekend.  Seriously.  These creations are quite different for me; they have a unique, museum-like quality about them - which inspired me to name them my "Museum Line" of jewelry.  These consist of big, bold creations for those who like to express their faith a little differently.  The Saint Therese of Lisieux necklace pictured below was made from polymer clay; most of the other designs were made with resin or glass.  All of the designs are available in both my Etsy and EBay stores.  As they are one-of-a-kind, they will not be reproduced.  Here's a sampling of some of my designs from this line:

Of course, I also made some simpler pieces of jewelry for those who like more delicate, reserved designs:

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!  It's pouring rain here today and my hubby is working, so it looks like we'll be spending the day indoors.  But that's alright, I love being at home and in my little art studio, so this is not much of a sacrifice to make on a day like today. :)
